Dance Belongs to Everyone
NZDAA's Community Dance Outreach initiatives bring quality dance education and artistic experience to communities across New Zealand — through schools, community centres, cultural organisations, and public events.
Why Community Matters
A healthy dance ecosystem requires more than excellent studios and competitive pathways. It requires communities where young people encounter dance early, where families see it as a genuine option, and where the art form has deep roots across different cultures and neighbourhoods.
NZDAA's outreach work is how we build those roots.
What We Do
Community Events
NZDAA supports community dance events — from school gala performances to public exhibitions to cultural festival participation. We provide professional consultation and logistical support for events that align with our educational mission.
Multicultural Arts Projects
New Zealand is home to an extraordinary range of dance traditions. NZDAA develops projects that honour and elevate multicultural artistic expression — partnering with cultural organisations, community leaders, and specialist artists.
Community Taster Programmes
Free or low-cost introductory dance sessions delivered in community venues — recreation centres, libraries, marae, community halls, and cultural centres. These sessions introduce dance to young people and families who may not have considered formal training.
